What’s Coming to Universal Orlando

Here’s a list of new rides, attractions, and shows, as well as other featured park events, that are scheduled to open at Universal Orlando Resort. This page will be updated if details change.

Bourne Stuntacular

In spring of 2020, Universal’s new live action stunt show will open in the Beverly Hills region of the park across from the Brown Derby. See our article on the new show here.

Unnamed Jurassic World Ride

In 2021, Universal will open a new ride in the Jurassic Park area that many are calling the Velicicoaster. However, the official name has not been released and Universal has yet to make a formal announcement with details about this ride. Construction of the new attraction is clearly visible in the park and sightings of roller coaster track suggest this is going to be a thrill ride.

Epic Universe Theme Park

Universal announced their plans to open a new theme park in the Orlando area called Universal’s Epic Universe. Apart from rides and attractions, it will have shopping, hotels, and restaurants on site. It is estimated the park won’t open until 2023 at the earliest. Located across from the Convention Center, it will have several lands whose themes have yet to be released. Universal is constructing a similar park in Japan, which will feature a Super Nintendo World with a Mario Kart ride and a Yoshi ride. Will the new Orlando park have similar attractions? Check back here for updates as new information is released.

RECENTLY OPENED: Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure

The newest major attraction at Universal Orlando is the new Harry Potter-themed ride featuring Hagrid and his motorbike, which opened in June 2019. The attraction in Universal’s Islands of Adventure is a roller coaster with seven high speed launches (the most in the world), a backwards drop, and a vertical drop. It also has large-scale, realistic set pieces and a Hagrid animatronic. Lines for this new ride are long and it has been known to breakdown frequently so plan accordingly if you wish to ride on your next visit.
