Jan 4, 2020: Rise, Muppets, Cetaceans

Rise of the Resistance

We’ve been jotting a lot about Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance lately. The popular ride that recently opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is still receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews. However, on Jan 2nd the ride suffered from technical difficulties, leaving guests stranded in long lines for much of the day. Disney worked to get the ride back to being operational by evening to accommodate later boarding groups. This morning, the ride appears to be operating at full capacity, with nearly 30 boarding groups riding within the first few hours. Disney’s Guest Relations has been working hard to set things right with affected visitors, giving out Fastpasses to those inconvenienced by the disturbances in the force.

Muppet Themed Restaurant

Finally, the official Disney Blog has confirmed that Sam Eagle, the most patriotic of muppets, is the inspiration for the new Regal Eagle Smokehouse that will open in Epcot in 2020. Rumors have been swirling for a few days now, but it looks like this will become a reality soon. Sam’s likeness is featured prominently on the restaurant’s logo and promotional material, and he will be featured in merchandise that will be available at the eatery. SeaWorld Saves Cetaceans

Social Media accounts for SeaWorld continue to share their successes at rescuing injured or endangered animals. Yesterday, the SeaWorld Twitter account shared data about the number of cetaceans they and their partners have rescued. Cetaceans are marine mammals like whales, dolphins, and porpoises. So far, SeaWorld has helped save over 500 cetaceans.
