WDW Lunar New Yearch Merch

We wondered in an earlier Jot when Lunar New Year merch would arrive in Orlando. Turns out, we only had to wait a few days. The 2020 lunar merch has finally been spotted at Disney World. Clothing, plushies, and other items themed for the year of the mouse are now available at the World of Disney store at Disney Springs. Spirit jerseys and more merch have also been sighted at Epcot, although we have yet to confirm this with our own eyes. We hope to get to the parks soon to find out more.

MLK Day

Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which celebrates the legacy of the civil rights leader. As with any holiday, it also means crowded parks. We checked wait times this morning and they’re longer than they have been over the past week. Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure at Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Smuggler’s Run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are two attractions in particular that have had long lines this morning. Hagrid’s had been having periods where the waits were less than an hour, but so far today, it’s closer to three hours. If you’re headed to the parks today, bring a little bit of patience with you. At least the weather will be nice!

Everlast at Velvet Sessions

The singer, songwriter, and rapper Everlast will be playing this week at the Universal Orlando Resort Hard Rock Hotel’s Velvet Sessions on Friday, January 24, 2020. Everlast, whose given name is Erik Francis Schrody, was the frontman for House of Pain and is known for hits like Jump Around and What It’s Like. He even won a Grammy for his collaboration with Santana on the song Put Your Lights On in 1999. The concert starts at 6:30 pm. Tickets for the event are available now.
