Did Universal just hint at the opening of a new Jurassic coaster at Islands of Adventure? In a post titled “What’s Ahead for Universal Orlando Resort in 2020”, Universal’s official blog posted something intriguing: “There’s even more in store for you like: Keeping your eyes peeled and ears to the ground for rumblings over in Jurassic Park”. Is this a reference to the new roller coaster that has been dubbed the Velocicoaster? Are the “rumblings” they refer to the coaster or the construction? Could it be opening in 2020? Almost certainly not based on the progress of the construction. Universal is such a tease.
Construction has been ongoing in the Jurassic Park region of Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Roller coaster tracks have been spotted in construction areas, strongly suggesting the new attraction will be a track-based thrill ride. As more evidence, Universal filed for a Trademark on the word “Velocicoaster” last July.
Universal has been pretty quiet about what exactly is going on in dino land. They are notoriously tight lipped when it comes to announcements. The official blog didn’t post about their last coaster, Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure, until a few months before opening. That’s why we’re pretty excited about this one line buried in a long blog post.
Following Universal’s suggestion, The Jotter will have their eyes peeled and ears to the ground for more news.
